Circles of Universal Language
Creating meaningful encounters in public space
Eindhoven, known for its innovative spirit and technological advancements, is transforming and growing rapidly. This development brings with it a diverse population of newcomers and long-time residents, creating an opportunity to encourage connections and to make everyone feel at home.
Circle: a symbol of connection
For decades, people have gathered in circles for rituals, spirituality, games, singing, dancing, and other gatherings. This non-hierarchical structure creates an open space where everyone plays an equal role. In a time of increasing diversity and division, the circle in this project symbolises care, collaboration, and connection. It forms part of a universal human language. For this project, Edhv and Dutch Invertuals have joined forces and invited designers to use the circle as a starting point to design for connection and interaction.
The future of connection in a growing city
With the exhibition ‘Circles of Universal Language,’ the municipality of Eindhoven, Edhv, Dutch Invertuals and various designers place the art of meeting at the forefront. They present concepts that offer a vision of how meaningful encounters can be realised and invite everyone to share their voice to collaboratively shape the future of Eindhoven.
Experience ‘Circles of Universal Language’ during the Dutch Design Week, at Ketelhuisplein, Eindhoven from October 19–27.
